Kenton made the bed so the kids could play underneath like a little hideaway.

  • Herb Rosen (item 5 view 2) built this band sawed Ear Ring Box - red stained bass wood, red felt lined interior, swivel top lid, multi aerosol lacquer finish and waxed.
  • Herb Rosen (item 7 view 1) built this Infant Casket as part of the Clubs support of  The Precious Angels Organization. They specialize in helping parents needing assistance with the burial needs of infants. He used Cherry Wood, brass hold down screws and finished it with a lacquer top coat. Precious Angels adds a lining to the Caskets the Club builds for them.

  • Paul Cartwright built this child’s desk chair for his grandchildren.  He used select pine, pocket hole joinery and some biscuits at selected locations in the desk construction. The color is stain rather than paint.

  • Top ribbon winner in the Woodworking Division at the 2005 Iowa State Fair was John Twedt of Ankeny, who took first place in the Furniture Item category with his Arts & Crafts Cherry Tall Clock, which went on to win the Best Of Show award.  Below is a close-up of the copper face Twedt fashioned.
  • Wayne Newkirk built this oak Grandfather Clock from a picture.  He sealed the oak with a  half and half mixture of Sealacell and Velvit Oil varnish. He top coated this with three coats of Velvit Oil varnish.  Between coats he wet sanded with 400, 600 and 800 grit paper.
